Debs is a mixed media artist based in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. She likes to experiment with different media, including acrylic, watercolour, inks, pastels, charcoal and collage, to create interesting effects and textures in her paintings. She mostly produces landscape paintings, and is inspired by the beautiful scenery all around her! Debs takes many photos when she is out and about, which are often used as a starting point for paintings, along with memories of the place and the experience.
Her paintings usually tend to be semi-abstract, and she is more interested in creating a certain mood, atmosphere or emotion rather than producing realistic scenes, although sometimes enjoys the more focused pursuit of accurate representation. For these reasons, she doesn’t limit herself to one genre or style. There are so many ways to produce art and Debs sees herself as a perpetual student, constantly learning and experimenting. She finds great joy and excitement in creating art and hopes this is evident in her paintings.
