Willie was born in Ireland and came to Argyll in 1959 when he was 19. He worked in Iona where he met Jan, who was to be his wife of 60 years. Leaving Iona, he worked as a hill shepherd in Arran and Lanarkshire, eventually returning to Mull. After a tractor accident put an end to that way of life, he enrolled in Stirling University.
He graduated in History and became a teacher in Oban High School in 1980. After 5 years he left to work as a researcher in University. In 1990 he returned to Oban to set up a special project for youngsters in trouble. He retired to write in 2005.
He has published many short stories with Harper Collins, The Scotsman and Northwords. ‘MICK’ was his first novel in 2019, followed by the ‘SHIEBA’ trilogy, ‘NOT ONE OF US’ and ‘THE SHEARER’, the last being self-published by Amazon. The next novel ‘SLAVER’ is due for release in 2027.
